Child labour, prevention of Drug abuse, HIV/AIDS awareness

Kri Foundation was set up in 2003, with a clearly defined mission and vision, as per the vision it is mandated to link the arts with social messaging. Kri Foundation sees itself playing a role of initiator, administrator and facilitator of the programme- acting as a bridge between the Agency of the Agenda and the Artistic Group.
In 2005, Kri Foundation ran a successful programme with the International Labour Organization’s Indus project, aimed at catalyzing a change in attitudes towards child labour, among victims and their families, perpetrators, and the silent observers who number millions and include ordinary people.

Kri Foundation It created an original play on the issues around child labour and also gave information on action to bee taken. The key group that created this work was a group of former child labour and street children from the walled City. These children then took this play around This programme was performed in 7 public spaces( including centers where child labour was prevalent), 10 Government schools and 7 Public schools.

Kri Foundation is presently engaged in Adolescent Education on issues of life skills, drug and HIV prevention. Psychologists indicate adolescence to be an age of emotional turbulence, risk taking bravado and testing social boundaries. All this in an environment of globalization, free- often irresponsible material available on airwaves and few role models to, look up to makes the present generation of adolescents a likely group for behavior that makes them vulnerable to stress, low self esteem, substance abuse and HIV/Aids.

Towards addressing these issues, Kri Foundation has conducted workshops with children in schools ( from Classes 6th- 12th in private and government schools) teachers and principals and parents. These have become very popular and various Rotary, Inner Wheel and Interact Clubs as well as schools have called upon Kri Foundation to conduct such sessions. Kri Foundation has worked with over thirty schools already.

Such interventions are direct, unabashed, frank and forthright-  in sync with the attitudes of of adolescents of today.
