Activities conducted: View List
-
Planning: Planning of the first dance and the camera festival to be held at the Habitat Centre Delhi- early 2006.Possibility of British Council, Alliance Frances, American Centre, Royal Netherlands embassy began. Many of these agencies offered to partner the Foundation in ‘one off’ activities during the year.
-
Web Presence created: Design of presentation materials, logos and the website commenced. The many events organized through the year, as well as the web presence have given the Foundation much visibility in its first year itself. Visit the Kri foundation website at http://www.krifoundation.org/
-
Grants and donations: The process of evaluation and assessment of grants was discussed with the trustees and others, committed to working on the various projects as support staff while the projects materialize in the next financial year. In fact in its first year itself, Kri foundation was able to get several private donors to give small sums of money, which was very useful in helping create the infrastructure, look and image of the Foundation. Continuous discussions on the progress of projects continue with the trustees in Delhi.
-
Consolidation: With the several planned activities at various levels and for various audiences, more effort was made to consolidate the work to prevent it from growing in a haphazard manner.
We initiated two lecture series, one called “Vidvatva”, in collaboration with the United States Education Foundation in India, and another stand alone one called “Setu - Building Bridges”, which aims at getting divergent cultures in touch with the Indian mind.
-
Database Creation: We plan to start an updated database of performers in various fields, replete with emails and websites, as the foundation’s mandate includes empowering traditional artistes to move with the times, and use the net to their advantage. Towards this, work is still ongoing.
The Foundation also created an e-data base of art lovers and connoisseurs, not only for Delhi but also for some key cities, to help newcomers and outstation artistes announce their event at a low cost. This facility was made available to all, irrespective of whether it was a programme of the foundation. This act allowed the foundation to gain in invisible equity and upheld the mandate of Networking.
-
Focus on the Northeast: Efforts were also put into place to give the North East a special focus in the plans of the Foundation.
-
Residency opportunities were planned and executed. Kri foundation was able to offer a month long residency to New Your based dancer Dr. Jill Sigman, who interacted with Indian dancers and gurus and presented a programme under the banner of the Foundation in January of 2005 and a performance based programme under the joint banner of the Foundation and the Public Affairs Department of the Embassy of the United States of America.
