Kri Foundation
  1. Awareness: During this year too our efforts do create an awareness of the mandate of the Foundation remained robust.

  2. Activities conducted: View List

  3. Planning: Planning of the first dance and the camera festival to be held at the Habitat Centre Delhi, bore results with “Danzlenz” the Festival being held over three days at the Habitat Centre in the month of February 2006. Interesting discussions followed the screenings to packed audiences. The demand was raised for a Seminar to understand the relation ship of dance and the camera and the concept of video dance.

Additionally planning was put into place for the annual Fringe Festival, that had garnered much popularity and foot falls, and it was decide to give it a logo and look, for which a young graphic designer was engaged.

  4. Web Presence : The web presence was enhanced by the updating of the site and the new stationary bearing the reference to the website.

  5. Grants and donations: The process of evaluation and assessment of grants was a matter of concern and was discussed with the trustees and others. Presentations were made to private and government agencies and systems were understood. A promise for future funding was received.

  6. Continuation of series’ : The two lecture series, one called “Vidvatva”, in collaboration with the United States Education Foundation in India, and another stand alone one called “Setu - Building Bridges”, which aims at getting divergent cultures in touch with the Indian mind, were continued through this year and together reached out to at least 75 guests each time.

  7. Database Creation: We plan to start an updated database of performers in various fields, replete with emails and websites, as the foundation’s mandate includes empowering traditional artistes to move with the times, and use the net to their advantage. Towards this, work is continues to be ongoing, with regular updating etc.

The Foundation also created an e-data base of art lovers and connoisseurs, not only for Delhi but also for some key cities, to help newcomers and outstation artistes announce their event at a low cost. This facility was made available to all, irrespective of whether it was a programme of the foundation. This act allowed the foundation to gain in invisible equity and upheld the mandate of Networking.

  8. Focus on the Northeast: Efforts were also put into place to give the North East a special focus in the plans of the Foundation, bore results with two programmes on the arts of the North east being presented in April at the Habitat Centre and in November at the India International Centre.

  9. Serving the Social sector: Kri Foundation went on to conduct a road show of 25 showings of a play on child labour for the International Labour Organization, in realization of its mandate to link the arts with new sectors including the development sector.

  10. Overseas associations- Afghanistan: Kri Foundation sent its first artiste overseas when it facilitated the visit of India’s best-known mime artiste, Niranjan Goswami, to Afghanistan to be part of the celebrations on then occasion of the handing over of the Indian food aid to Afghanistan. Kri Foundation was contacted for this purpose, by the office of the World Food Programme in Kabul, Afghanistan, and the officers of the Indian Embassy located in Kabul.

  11. Commitment to Secularism : The logo of Kri Foundation contains the key to the foundation’s commitment to heterodoxy, especially in matters of religion. The Foundation partnered with the Prasidha Foundation, in the planning and organizing of the “Sharad Vaibhav Festival” to salute the creative and secular spirit that went hand in hand with the various religions that are found in India.

  12. Residencies: Two residencies were offered this year, one to an artiste and the other to a scholar.
